HOT 5 - 7/15/22
Dear Hot Friends,
As I sit and write this email to you dear readers it just happens to be Bastille Day. As always, this holiday makes me incredibly nostalgic for the amazing years in the late 80s and early 90s when I was so very lucky to live in the beautiful and awe-inspiring city of Paris. Those years had an immeasurable influence on me. They greatly informed my sense of style, appreciation for architecture, design, food and so much more. It's where I really learned about what the French call joie de vivre and for that I am eternally grateful to that amazing city. These days we can all use a bit more of that joie. Happy Bastille Day!
Here's this week's Hot 5:
1. Hot Headbands
2. The Hot Pick - The Perfect White T
3. Get Your Fill
4. You Need this Skirt!
5. Do You Know The Answer To This Question?
1. Hot Headbands
It's no secret that headbands are one of my favorite fashion accessories. In fact, I'm rarely seen without one. I find them invaluable, especially in the summer when I just want my hair up and off my face but still want to add a little something to my overall outfit, no matter how casual. Currently, on the site, we have so many pretty headbands in different colors, patterns, and states of embellishment that I'm sure you'll find something to like. And to provide a little incentive I'm offering a whopping 50% off every. single. headband. Who could resist? Here are a few to check out.
2. The Hot Pick -- The Perfect White T
Ah the search for the perfect white T-shirt never seems to end, does it? But given that it's one of the most useful basics in our wardrobes it makes sense that finding the perfect one would take some work. This one small necessary item needs to satisfy on so many levels...fit, look and feel to start. And of course, everyone will have their own list of must-haves like sleeve length, the weight of the fabric, price, etc. The 5 Ts that I've chosen for you below are some of my personal favorites and ones that I've repurchased over the years. If you need further recos then read this. Hope it's helpful!
3. Get Your Fill
It's time for some summer beauty product news and the best news of all is that these are refillable! First up is a most splurgy treatment product, the Ultimate Soothing Cream from Agustinus Bader which comes in a refillable pot costing $15 less (this product is so $$$$ that I'll take any little discount!). The gorgeous Hermes lipstick is another splurge that is quite a bit less when you buy the refill. The Hourglass eyeshadows are amazing in texture and color delivery and what fun creating your own palette! Charlotte Tilbury's practical and easy-to-use Lip and Cheek Wands are a no-brainer. Lastly, Super Goop's refillable Resetting Mineral Powder with SPF 35 is just $20 and is my favorite SPF product for on-the-go sun protection.
4. You Need this Skirt!
I love nothing more than a good designer collaboration and the recent one from Uniqlo and Italian designer brand Marni didn't disappoint. Marni, one of my favorite clothing brands, is known for taking an experimental approach to fabric and color while often mixing prints and shapes. It's also very expensive so I try not to miss any of their collaborations with the more affordable big brands like Uniqlo or H&M. I find this skirt from the collection especially fabulous. It has a full interesting shape created with folds of material yet it has a comfortable wide elastic waistband and handy pockets. It came in a red check, a navy check, and a solid navy. This collection sold out in minutes. I have a navy one I'd like to sell in a size small (fits a 27-29 inch waist). If anyone is interested just respond to this email.
And look at all the great ways it can be styled!
5. Do You Know The Answer To This Question?
Another thing I have to thank Paris for is my love of really good chocolate above all other temptations (ok ice cream might be up there too:). Because it's often my treat of choice this article entitled Is Chocolate Good For You? really caught my attention. Unfortunately, the answer as for most things of this nature is unclear. The bottom line is cocoa is definitely good for you but that's about all the experts know. I'll just take that as a good enough reason to keep indulging in chocolate!
