Dear Hot Friends,
Today, in celebration of Spring, every single item on House of Terrance is 99% off! Wait, what? April Fools’! I bet you knew that was coming. I don't know about you, but lately, I feel as if every day is April Fools’ Day. The daily assault on our democracy and way of life just can't be real. If you're feeling like I am and have a strong desire to do something, anything, consider joining one of the National Day of Action marches being held all over the country this Saturday, April 5th. You can sign up here.
I'll see you at the march! Meanwhile, here's this week's Hot 5:

1. HOT Hack of the Week: Jewelry Trends
Here at HOT, we believe that one of the best style hacks is using accessories and jewelry, in particular, to add an instant update to your wardrobe. For spring 2025, the first thing to know is that the trend for delicate and demure jewelry is on pause. We're thoroughly bored with "quiet luxury" and ready to go with rich colors, loud statement accessories, and a sense of fun. In other words, "more is more and less is a bore"! Here are the trends you need to know about:
Door Knocker Earrings -- Don't be put off by the '80s moniker, these bodacious beauties are just the thing to shake up your 'fit and make it shout 2025!
Bold Beads -- This summer's number 1 trend is the hard return of Boho Chic. An easy and classic way to get the look is to pile on the beautiful beads.
Storytelling Brooches -- In keeping with the major trend for personalization of individual style this year, brooches are the perfect way to tell your own personal style story!
Resin Is Back! It's been a while since we've seen resin jewelry pieces featured so prominently in designer collections. Bold names like Yves Saint Laurent and Iris Van Herpen have shown gorgeous resin pieces this spring.
Mix Your Metals -- Layering your gold and silver jewelry is a fast and fresh way to instantly give your look a modern update. Plus, being unafraid to mix gives you so much more to work with!
2. This Is Hot! Bag Charms
I'm sure you haven't missed the proliferation of charms turning up on absolutely everything lately. You might wonder what's behind it. This quote from Janelle Lloyd, Ready-to-wear Fashion Director at Bloomingdale's, explains: "Personalization is set to be a major trend in 2025, from bag charms and monogramming to a re-emergence of individual style. We’re moving away from revolving-door micro-trends in favor of more meaningful, personal expressions through fashion." I've been inspired to try my hand at creating whimsical bag charms that can be attached to different bag shapes, from totes to top-handled, and I've got more in the pipeline!
3. Obsession Confession: Mother x LA Double J
I always find great-fitting, well-made jeans from my favorite jeans purveyor, Mother Denim, and look forward to any new drop. Recently, I was surprised to see that they had collaborated with another favorite, albeit very different label, La Double J, known for ultra chic Italian prints in fine fabrics at an elevated price point. The collaboration is called Ciao Mamma and features jackets, jeans, tops, and skirts in colorful, eye-catching prints. I can't wait to snap a piece up!
4. Shopportunities: Blue Tree
Gen Z movie star Phoebe Cates founded this charming boutique on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. You might remember her from Fast Times At Ridgemont High. This is one of my favorite places to shop in NYC. Blue Tree is billed as Phoebe's twist on a modern general store and carries everything from women’s clothing to home items, gifts, fragrances, music, and more. The curation never disappoints, and I dare you to come out empty-handed!
5. Culture Club: Purpose and The Residence
For this week's Culture Club, I want to mention 2 very different shows that I've enjoyed immensely this month. First is Purpose, a new play written by Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Phylicia Rashad. This American family drama follows a wealthy Black family in Chicago as they struggle under the looming shadow of their patriarch. I was knocked out by the brilliant writing and acting. Don't miss this!
On a lighter note, The Residence, a new show from Shonda Rhimes is a fun romp of a murder mystery that takes place at the White House. Its structure and high jinks remind me of Only Murders In The Building, and the engaging star who takes us on this romp is Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes in Orange Is The New Black). It's a hoot!
