1. Dior at the Brooklyn Museum

Last week I ventured to the Brooklyn Museum with two close, fashion-loving friends, to see the exhibit entitled Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams. I've been extremely excited to see this show since it first opened in Paris in 2017. It did not disappoint! Even if you are not thoroughly obsessed with fashion and its history as I am, you'll be bowled over by this phenomenal display of clothing, accessories, sketches, photos, and videos. Monsieur Dior's dreams are indeed presented in all of their exquisite glory and what's truly enlightening about the show is how the designers that followed (Yves St. Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferre, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri) continued the dream. I know you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Learn more and book your tickets here .

2. HOT Pick: What's New in Necklaces

I love necklaces for their ability to totally change up a look in the time it takes to throw one on! After a year plus of zoom earrings aren't we more than ready for the going-out necklace? Fall 2021 brings us lots of new trends in jewelry like the return of silver metals, piles of pearls, massive chain chokers, quirky pendants, brightly colored stones, fringe, and of course charming charms. Whether your personal style is minimalist or maximalist, there's a necklace for you this fall. You can find many of these trends on our website and I've picked a few for your viewing pleasure below.

3. Pairing Necklaces With Necklines

Now that you've seen what's new in necklaces this fall, do you know how to pair them with your various necklines to show them at their best? Did you know that you can really do your look a disservice by getting this one wrong? A few years ago I wrote about this here on the HOT blog and was surprised by the positive responses from people who hadn't really thought about the importance of doing this one right. It's all about balance and making sure your necklace is framed well so that it can be seen. Whatever your favorite neckline is there's a great necklace to pair with it!

4. My New Crush

Perhaps you've seen this article about the remarkable Betty Reid Hoskin? She recently turned 100 years old and not surprisingly she is the oldest active ranger in the National Park Service! But what is really surprising is her amazing personal story. She became a park ranger in her 80s when most people are winding down. She is a ranger with a mission to tell the story of women like herself, those with marginalized stories that weren't being told. And what a story she has! She’s been a suburban mother, antiwar activist, musician, business owner, faculty wife, community advocate, political aide, blogger, and now park ranger. Make sure you watch this trailer for No Time to Waste: The Urgent Mission of Betty Reid Soskin to see how amazing this centenarian truly is!

5. The Ultimate Fall Book Preview

What is it about fall that makes us want to curl up with a great book? Maybe one that's a bit more challenging than our summer beach reads too. I recently joined a book club run by my alma mater, Wellesley College, to help motivate me to read more and more consistently. This fall there are a wealth of new books, many more than in previous years. I guess we know what all the authors were doing during lockdown. I found this article from The Literary Hub to be quite useful. The editors there created a list of books based on how many must-read lists those books appeared on, therefore, it really is the ultimate list. You're sure to find your perfect fall read on it!

Happy reading!

Terry xoxo
